Juniors and Seniors:
1. The dates for the SAT for this school year are available on a table below this document at the bottom of the page.
Most students should take the SAT during their spring semester as a junior and(or) during their senior year in high school. There are no grade restrictions for taking the test. The SAT has three parts: 1) Critical Reading, 2) Math and 3) Writing. Each section will have a score between 200-800.
The composite score will be the sum of the three section scores. Students may take the SAT as many times as they wish. A student has the opportunity to count the highest score in each section, even if they are from different tests, to compute their highest composite score.
2. The dates for the ACT for this school year are available on a table below this document at the bottom of the page.
Students do not have to take both the SAT and the ACT. Most universities require only one or the other. The ACT breaks down into more subject areas where the SAT is more generalized. Applications are available in the guidance office or may be done online.
All applications need our school code so that we may receive your results. The code for W.C. is 153695.
3. College visits: Visiting a campus is very important way to discover whether you are a good fit for a particular school and more importantly whether the school fits you needs. Try to visit at least three or four campuses. Contact the admission office at any university you are considering and arrange a visit. Make sure you are able to give the W.C. faculty at least a week’s notice before the visit. On your visit it is recommended you do the following:
A. Attend a freshman level class. B. Talk to a faculty member. C. Talk with current students. D. Tour a residence hall and eat in the cafeteria. E. Tour the campus. F. Talk with a financial aid counselor.
